The 3 biggest mistakes people make on Halloween party days at Magic Kingdom… and honestly, they can make or break your whole trip

🎃Not getting park hopper tickets for party days
This is SUCH a missed opportunity. Magic Kingdom closes early for the party, so if you don’t have a party ticket, your day gets cut short. For this reason most people skips Magic Kingdom on which is bad for them and good for you! Other parks will be SUPER packed and Magic Kingdom will be practically empty. So here’s what you do - get the hopper ticket. With park hoppers, you can experience the shorter crowds in the morning at Magic Kingdom then hop to another park when Magic Kingdom closes instead of missing a whole day.

👻Skipping the party altogether
I get it—it’s an extra ticket. But this is where the magic actually lives. Shorter wait times, no lightning lanes, exclusive entertainment, rare characters, trick-or-treating, and the best Halloween vibes Disney does all year. If you’re already there during party season and skip it, you’re missing a huge part of what makes fall at Disney so special

💀Not planning a rest day after the party
These parties go LATE late. Like… your child getting back to your resort with a sugar high at 2AM late. The next morning hits hard, especially with kids. Build in a slower day, sleep in, hit the pool, check out Disney Springs, maybe do a character meal and call it a day. You’ll enjoy your whole trip so much more instead of running on fumes.

You stop for the photos even when someone is rushing you along. You hold their hand a little tighter in the middle of the chaos because you know one day they wont want to.

There’s something about Disney that makes you realize how quickly time is moving. So yes you take the trip. You go now. And you’ll be happy you did; because these are the days you’ll look back on and think I’m so glad I didn’t wait.

I checked out all the Margaritaville resorts in the Smokies so you don’t have to — and I’ve got the real breakdown to help you pick the right one for your trip!

Each one has a totally different vibe, and it really comes down to what kind of getaway you’re going for. One is perfect for more of a couples or adults-only style trip — think fun energy, rooftop views, and margaritas in hand. It has that elevated, “we’re on vacation” feel where you can relax during the day and enjoy the atmosphere at night.

Another one is made for families — we’re talking awesome pools, splash areas, and amenities that keep the kids entertained while parents actually get to relax too. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend a full day at the resort and never hear “I’m bored” once.

And then there’s a great in-between option that gives you all the Margaritaville vibes without going all out on price — perfect if you want something fun, convenient, and a little more budget-friendly without sacrificing the experience.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to your vibe — relaxing and elevated, fun and family-focused, or somewhere right in the middle. And that’s where I come in!

I’ve personally toured all of these, so I can help you sort through the options, match you with the right fit, and make sure your trip is exactly what you’re hoping for.

You’ll probably hear people say to bring an extra outfit to the parks… and EPCOT is one place where that advice really matters. Between random Florida rain showers, splash areas kids can’t resist, and the water features at Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, it’s surprisingly easy for kids to end up completely soaked halfway through the day.

The Moana area is incredible and interactive, but many of the water elements are hands-on and kids love running through them. What starts as “just touching the water” can quickly turn into wet shirts, wet shorts, and wet shoes.

Most families don’t think about this until they’re hours away from their hotel and suddenly someone is cold, uncomfortable, and ready to call it a day. Having a quick change of clothes tucked in your park bag can be the difference between a meltdown and getting right back to enjoying the park.

Insider tip: pack the extra outfit in a large zip-top bag. If clothes get wet, you’ll have somewhere to stash them so the rest of your bag stays dry—and it’s also perfect if one of those classic Florida rainstorms rolls through. 🌧️✨

Why? Because now you have a higher chance of snagging multiple Tier 1 rides at another park (looking at you, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios) without the usual selection burn.

Here’s the game plan: start your day at Animal Kingdom and grab Lightning Lanes as early as possible. After your first ride, start selecting Tier 1 rides at another park for that afternoon. Most theme parks have guidelines that still allow you to ride—generally, if it only covers one joint, doesn’t interfere with safety restraints, entering/exiting the ride vehicle, and isn’t a risk to others, you’re often still good to go. 🙌

It sounds extra, but Disney may accidentally charge your room folio instead of using a snack credit, because technology is great but always glitches when I’m using it 🤪

That means you might end up with unexpected charges on your resort bill at the end of your trip — and nobody wants that surprise! So whether you’re grabbing your 2nd Mickey pretzel of the day (no judgement!) or a churro, keep an eye on your receipt and confirm your snack credit is being used properly. It saves you from headaches later and lets you enjoy your trip stress-free.
